Despite declining revenues, Mississippi makes $415 million in tax cuts over 12 years - Mississippi Business Journal

Yep that makes economic sense. You pass a $415 million tax cut but but you also borrow $250 million to pay for things? I don't think these people passed basic math much less basic economics.

Not sure why this is an issue.

Mississippi voted in the Tea Party, and then in the 2015 elections we cemented them in firmly. We effectively gave them a mandate on fiscal and social policy.

The result is what you are seeing. Blind budget cutting (while borrowing at the same time), discriminatory bills against same sex couples, guns in churches, etc.

We didn't ask the state to do anything about roads, bridges, education. So by golly they are doing exactly what we asked for. Nothing.

Heh, heh...........Speaking of basics, you apparently did not notice that the $415M cut is over a 12 year period and does not take effect until 2018.

This is also why Mississippi will pass more Jim Crow like legislation against homosexuals. As long as you distract people with their hate and prejudice, it will not matter what you screw up.

Tate Reeves comes across as something like a midget bully. I shudder to think what will happen when he gets elected governor (it is more of a when rather than an if).

Mississippians continuously whine about government overreach, yet they leech off the federal government at a 2:1 margin. It's time to pull them out of the trough and let them pay their own way. Then, they can run things without interference from the federal government. They can get rid of food stamps, bring back segregation, legalize discrimination, and mandate bi-weekly attendance at the nearest Baptist church. I think everybody will be happier and the federal government will free up $100,000,000+ in tax dollars to build a wall around the place. Problem solved!

Jonathan Tater Reeves is far worse than Phil Bryant if you can believe that. The problem is there are no Democrats in this state worth a damn to run against him. Only person I know that has the balls to do it is Jim Hood and he wouldn't get elected.
