Have you been since they reopened? I think they did some remodeling at the same time.

Hattiesburg

in Hattiesburg there are 2 that seem pretty good that meet your criteria: "southern/country/buffet type restaurants"

Farmers Market
and
Front Porch

I've been to the Blue and White Cafe in Tunica a few times. I think most baby boomers can probably tell by looking at it that it use to be an old Pure Gasoline statiion. The nostalgia enticed me to want to eat there.
It's the best local restaraunt that serves authentic Southern food in Tunica that I know of. It's pretty good but, I never had anything that was really rememberable to eat. I know one time I had fried chicken and mashed potatoes and some greens. It tasted ok but nothing to brag about. The chicken was pretty bland tasting. It lacked spice. I had better chicken at a combination fast food/gas station/convenience store on northbound side of Highway 61 in either Cleveland or Clarksdale. The building was yellow in color. I seen another one just like it in Memphis so it must be a chain. I forgot the name of that place but the fried chicken was better than the fried chicken I had at Blue and White. I've been trying to remember the name of that chicken restaraunt. It was like a one word family name. I'd recognize it if I heard it

I thought the restaraunt inside Fitzgerald's casino was better than Blue and White. I had a real good breakfast of biscuits and sausage gravy and fried potatoes. It's in Tunica County, which is rural but it's part of a chain of nationwide casinos, so I don't know if it's the kind of rural you're looking for or not. I had one of the best breakfasts I ever had in my life in the buffet part of Fitzgerald's. I went there about 6:00 one morning. I was the 1st customer of the day. The lady made me a plate full of fresh migas right in front of me. They were among the best migas I ever had. That's saying alot because I live in Austin and Austin is the migas capital of the world and I have migas about once a week from different Mexican restaraunts in Austin, and the migas I had at Fitzgeralds in Tunica could easily rival the best migas I've had in Austin.

Not really a restaurant, but try the fried chicken from Mr. Jiffy in Batesville. Best fried chicken ever. Same with any food that sits under a warmer, get it fresh.

Yes, that's it. Dodge's is the name of that restaraunt. Thanks for filling in the blank.

My favorite place is in Crystal Springs off Highway 27. It's Southern Star Kitchen they have a lunch buffet Tuesday-Friday and Sunday 11-2 for lunch. The best Fried catfish, Southern cooking and the fried chicken. I had in Mississippi and it's Real Mississippi catfish. My Mom loves the fresh vegetables and beans. It's just outside the city limits in the old Sudie's Fish house 4 miles east of Interstate 55 Exit #72 on Highway 27. The Address is 24188 Highway 27 Crystal Springs, MS 39059
