I started this same thread in the Alabama forum, where I currently live, so I'll say the same things I said there. You just don't see many southern/country/buffet type restaurants in the metro areas. I'm always on the road, and always looking for new ones. And they don't have to be buffets either.

Carmack Fish House and Guy's Catfish around Vaiden come to mind. Council House in French Camp. Old Taylor Grocery is a little too well-known, not exactly the type place I'm talking about.

Any others?

If you are in Ocean Springs, this place has some good fried chicken.

Wade's Fish House just a few miles west of Eupora
Nail's Diner & Gas Station in Stewart has pretty good food all week, but the steaks served Thu-Sat nights are phenomenal. If you can luck up and show up within a day or so of the rare brisket smoke make sure to partake.

There's a Fratesi's in Ridgeland also. It's been there since at least 1995.

Also check out Sherman's in Greenville.
