Can't sleep.
It's Saturday night and the tornado sirens are going off all around us. Since Tupelo got nailed in '14 everyone takes this sort of thing seriously. We know to keep an eye out when the sirens start their incessant wailing, but at night you can't see anything. Radar gives you a good picture, but there is nothing like daylight to lighten the mood.

They stop, and then in a few minutes they start back up as new activity springs up.

Night time tornadoes. Yuk.

Those are frightening. With the weather pattern changing from cold to warm the cold fronts coming in are making this dangerous even though technically it isn't tornado season yet.

Yup, had eight warnings last night in little over hour, none touched down thankfully.

and please remember sirens are OUTDOOR warning sirens, they are designed to warn people that are outside to go inside. Unless you live close enough to one you may not be awakened by them. Buy a weather radio and set it to alert for watches/warnings!

Where we live, there's no sirens to be heard. We did sign up to get alerts on our cell-phones. We've had several in the middle of the night and with 2 tornadoes having touched down with a couple miles of our home, I'm glad to be awakened just to get a few minutes time to get into the shelter with our animals.

There is nothing more scary then the dual events of hearing the tornado sirens at night and the power going out during the bad storms. It's like - waiting in pitch dark for imminent death.

We have been very fortunate in Hernando. In the 44 years I have lived here only one tornado has touched down & it just did minor damage. That must have been back in the 70s

I really regret that I wasn't able to get a hold of you while I was in Tupelo last month.
