I'm not a Coast Rat, but in my 50s and remember before the casinos. The coast is showing remarkable progress, I understand some of the old ways are gone, but times change. There is more opportunity now, not just shipbuilding anymore.

viverlibre is one of the most negative MS posters here and if he can see that the Coast is blowing up, anybody can.

It's weird that you ride down Beach Blvd. in Waveland and comment on the foundations. You know, the area that was wiped off the map by the storm.

Meanwhile, BSL is cooler than ever. That area will never FULLY come back, for good reason. It's taken 2 major hurricanes in a 50 year timespan. People have wised up.

But what about Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, etc.? Oh wait

Honestly the growth is all the way up to Hattiesburg. Some good stuff going on all the way to Columbia too. And the spillover from Airbus is reaching eastern Jackson and George Counties.

I live on the coast and it's fantastic! The sunsets the rise are spectacular. I have fun in the casinos, and enjoy the many restaurants. I buy my shrimp fresh out of the water and my meat from the locals at the farmers market. I shop for antiques and love the quaint shops in bay st louis. I often sit on the beaches and enjoy the breeze. We have much to do on the coast. There is entertainment, shopping, even friendly people that work at WalMart!!! Lol. I lived in Central Mississippi and for me the coast is definitely a better fit. Housing, utilities are very cost effective.

The chow at the Cajun Crawfish Hut in Long Beach has gone downhill.

I'm from Wisconsin and my Boyfriend and I just spent 9 days in Northeast Mississippi near where his daughter lives. He is thinking of moving down there and wants me to come with. I'm not positive I'll be happy there though. I saw so many poor areas. It seemed kind of depressing
He wants a big plot of land and wants cattle and horses. I want that too but I guess I'm just scared. LOL
We went to Tupelo and that was nice. Guess I have to investigate more

I think the answer depends on how badly you want to be with your boyfriend. Think of what you would be giving up in Wisconsin in order to be with him and the drama with his ex and their child in Mississippi. Is he worth all that? Listen to your gut. Do what feels like the right thing for you to do.

His Ex and their child? Huh? Guess I missed something? (unless you weren't addressing my post?)

I don't know what that would be since this is no "Ex" to speak of and the child is an adult. So, at this point, I'm super confused. LOL
