People should be looking at metro areas individually, with SOME additional information based on statewide stats. Is there any real booming city right now? Not really, but there are pockets of good, solid growth, like the Gulfport-Biloxi area, Hattiesburg, Madison, Golden Triangle and Desoto County.

You would think most educated people would understand this VERY common sensible idea. I'm not talking about people out of state, they have a reason to not know. I'm talking about our own residents.
The Delta is unique in it’s own way. Birth of the Blues.

While true. The Delta, much like Jackson as well. Are mostly rural, agricultural, below-the-poverty-line black areas that haven't seen little to any improvement in over 50 years.

Without the Delta, Mississippi would be more like Alabama in terms of economy.

Without the Delta, and Jackson, Mississippi would be more like Alabama in terms of economy.

Jackson is not rural nor highly agricultural based.

I think you & others don't realized it would be absolutely a crippling effect on the state's economy. Instead of it being more like Bama, it would be a mix of Arkansas/West Virginia.

Good point and overstatement on my part.

My concern is the direction that Jackson has taken over the past 20 years or so.
