The Clarion Ledger has a state flag poll today on their website. The results are currently about 55 percent in favor of the current flag, and 45 percent in favor of one of the other choices. If interested take a look and vote. The story says it will be an issue this year in statewide elections.

The Clarion Ledger poll has the current flag and 4 alternate choices, with the Stennis flag leading the alternate choices by a large margin. I think if another statewide vote was held the choices would need to be narrowed the the current flag and the Stennis flag to have a fair shot at replacing the current flag.

This will be a referendum on CL readers, not actual state residents.

Can't be that many out of staters who read it, unless it's former Mississippians and a few people from neighboring states. I may be wrong.

I have stated before that I would like to see the flag changed. I think the current flag holds us back in a few ways.

The CL readers and others have a odd taste in the Stennis flag. I prefer the Magnolia Tree flag. I think it doesn't matter if the state does change the flag as the negative reputations & stereotypes will persist. It's a matter of community , economics, & especially politics that will continue to shape this state's future.

I don't find any of them to be very visually appealing, but I would pick Proposition B.

If I lived there, I'd vote for the Proposition B flag because the stars are so psychedellic looking. That would be good flag to hang on a wall in a room that has a black light.
