Mississippi, your backwoods ignorance kills me sometimes. Good grief.

Yep, that's Mississippi. And of course, she acts as if she is unaware of any social change that has occurred in the last 60 years. This was racism pure and simple, has nothing to do with religion.

This article sums up the argument beautifully: https://www.desiringgod.org/intervie...acial-marriage

The article even mentions the "Christian Race".

Many racist Christians believe that interracial marriage is a sin, but those beliefs are based in (1) taught racism, (2) misinterpretation of several scriptures, and (3) a lot of thin metaphors and stretched symbolism. Verses about not yoking an ox and donkey together, or sowing two seeds in one field, or making cloth from two specific types of thread.

They conveniently ignore the passages in the Bible that make it very clear that interracial marriage is not a sin. Primarily there's Numbers 12. Moses has married a black-skinned Cush-ite (or Ethiopian) woman. His sister Merriam criticizes him for this. God gives Merriam leprosy as punishment.

And finally, there's the New Testament which superceded all the prohibitions in the Old Testament (that don't really exist):
Quote:
Galatians 3:27–29:
27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.
And:
Quote:
1 Corinthians 7:39:
39 She is free to marry whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

I think this is mostly the older crowd who may remember a different time and attitude towards race... I don't know. Just seems to be more prevalent in older or more uneducated people.

I just live on the edge that somebody from Mississippi is gonna pull something like this and we all look like hillbillies.

You probably could, but probably not as often. People are just watching and waiting for this stuff to happen in Mississippi, and we don't disappoint unfortunately.

Yeah, you're right. This kind of thing never makes the news for Mississippi , and there is no outrage from me. Just some embarrassment regarding when SOME PEOPLE from Mississippi will come into the 21st century and forget about race instead of making the national news with their backward beliefs. Guess you are good with it.
