My family is planning our first family reunion in over 10 years. We will have approximately 40 people in the Memphis, TN or Tupelo, MS area. No one in our family has any ties to either area, it is just a good central meeting place. We are looking for some nice group accommodations, preferably not motels. We all love nature, rivers, lakes, creeks, mountains, national parks and such. Looking for maybe some cabins that sleep 10 or maybe lodging that would accommodate the entire group, possibly a local retreat that offers room and board for groups. Would settle for cabins that sleep 6-8. Looking for reasonable pricing. Planning on being there for at least four nights. Any suggestions?

Nothing I can think of around Tupelo that would accommodate that many people.
I've been in charge of navy group reunions for many years and groups that large are almost impossible to accommodate in cabins. We don't even try that route anymore.

We held one in Branson, MO. Accommodations there were nice.
Memphis is generally pretty rough. Nashville is better and more interesting.
There are hotels at Lake Pickwick that can handle your group. You would like the area.

For Tupelo check out Tombigbee State Park, Trace State Park, Elvis Presley Lake & Campground, & The Campground at Barnes Crossing.

Default You might enjoy Holly Springs

I recently bought an antebellum mansion in Holly Springs onto which was added a large corporate addition. I'm in the process of turning this into a bed and breakfast, but not quite there yet. I also own the 2 bedroom house next door, so if you rented the entire property it could sleep up to 22. I have a bar and adjoining sun room with about 1,600 square feet that I have set up with restaurant-style tables and high tops. The tables will seat 40 and the high tops and bar about 20 more. There is a 65" TV and pool table in the bar.

There are a couple of additional B&Bs about a half-mile from me, so easy walking distance. The Wynne House can be rented in its entirety and will sleep eight or nine. The nearby Hummingbird Cottage will sleep 4. The Court Square Inn is on the Square, 8/10s mile away, and has three very nice suites that will sleep at least six. This gets you to 40. There are a couple of additional places within a mile as well. I think you would want to make my place your base of operations, since there is plenty of room to handle a crowd. Plus I have a fairly large parking area.

If you are interested I could arrange a rental of the Kate Freeman Clark Art Museum, where your group could have cocktails and a catered lunch or supper. I highly recommend. I could also arrange for you to be given a tour of Montrose, an antebellum home about five houses down from mine. The Ida Wells Barnett museum is also close to my house, as are a number of historic mansions. You can Google these things for more information.

My B&B's Facebook page is still under construction, but it has some photos. My home is called Heritage. Feel free to call the Chamber of Commerce and ask about any of this.
