The bureau of economic analysis have release their latest report of GDP which includes the county level GDP of every state. I definitely wanted to share this information.

1. Hinds- $11.2 B
2. Harrison- $7.9 B
3. Jackson- $7.5 B
4. Rankin- $6.1 B
5. Madison- $5.8 B
6. DeSoto- $5 B
7. Lee- $4.2 B
8. Forrest- $3.6 B
9. Lauderdale- $2.764 B
10. Lowndes- $2.763 B

Collective - $57.1 Billion or 55.6% of the state's economy.

If Hinds is such a wealthy county, why does it have so many poor people?

Jackson businesses has a lot to do with where it ranks. You also need to understand what GDP actually measures.

Looks like 9 of those 10 counties of are also in the top 10 in population. Not quite in the same order.

Lowndes county is #10 on this list but is #12 in population. Jones County is #10 in population but isn't in the top 10 on this list.

True that Hinds has lots of poor people, but the Eastover (and surrounding neighborhoods) area of Jackson has more wealth than most of us can imagine.

Don't forget Woodhaven/Woodville & part of South Jackson near Byram.
