Do you need a car to live there? Depending on your expectations, almost everyone in MS has a car, most things are spaced out. Yes, except for severe weather. If you don't have a car, this situation is further complicated. es, you are on the coast. Sandy beaches, but the poor water quality keeps most people out of the water. Plenty of nature in MS to discover....if you have a car... If you don't have a car due to financial concerns, OS, and BSL are some the highest cost of living areas in the state. Although, the cost of living is still low compared to many other parts of the country. In most places in MS, you will need a car if you want much independence (shopping, doctors, etc.) Most towns in the 'Sip are set up so that one has to drive. Public transportation is in short supply, Uber/Lyft are available in many areas though.
