What we see as befriending, others see as being noisy or ignorance. When the chips are down or something happens in your family or neighborhood, you would rather have a simple minded Delta neighbor in your corner rather than a city slicker.
I am Delta born and bred, proud of it!!! This simple mind has a BBA and working on Master's, work 2 part time jobs while attending school and raising a family, not asking you city slicker for nothing.
I wonder if Delta people have a different idea of "engagement". I don't think any person in trouble would turn down a hand extended in friendship. I don't get the idea that such behavior is commonplace. Am I mistaken?

FWIW.

Yeah it's sad! The Delta is from Memphis to Vicksburg and part of Arkansas and Louisiana.

I can honestly say this town is horrible, we cant go anywhere with out some one black saying something, these people here are simple minded and what I dont understand is we as African Americans have fought sooo hard for equal opportunites and for racism to stop, but here we are doing the same thing we are fighting against dont that make us hippocrites
That's sad you had to experience that, sad for anyone though. Some people are just content with the way things is. I'm not suprised though, the people in the Delta are VERY opinionated. Black and White!
