Hi, my husband and I just moved to Delta about 3 months ago, I'm originally from Dallas, TX and him from Salem, IL. well he is quite older than I but we end up falling in love and since then we've moved alot due to his promotions. I can honestly say this town is horrible, we cant go anywhere with out some one black saying something, these people here are simple minded and what I dont understand is we as African Americans have fought sooo hard for equal opportunites and for racism to stop, but here we are doing the same thing we are fighting against dont that make us hippocrites

I am truly sorry to read of your plight; however, moving from Dallas to Mississippi, regardless of where, has simply got to be a shock to the system. My home is in the Mississippi Delta, Cleveland to be specific. I've never heard anything good about Greenville, but you never wrote just where in the Delta you are. Greenville? Greenwood? Inverness? Rolling Fork? Clarksdale? Tunica? There's lots of small towns and communities in the Mississippi Delta, some worse, some better.

Had your husband been given a choice of where to go, would either of you changed your mind? Did you go to that state, to the area where you are totally blind, or did you visit, look around, ask questions ahead of time?

Oh, I now live south of Fort Worth, BTW, having been transferred to the now closed NAS Dallas by the Navy way, way back in 1990.

No. It is about 30 miles east of the Mississippi River delta. The delta is a geographical landmark that is clearly visible on any topographical map.

You people can talk down on the Delta all you want every town or city have there ups and downs. The Delta is a nice place. It's just a slow pace area of Mississippi.

I'm from Pa. and I've been to Mississippi and I just love it there. I am planning on moving there when I retire in 15 more months if it's the Lord's Will.

It saddens me to read the negative posts that are posted about the Mississippi Delta. No matter where you travel to or live, there will be negativity, racism and bad communities, some places have a better way of hiding "these people" as others. We in the Delta are just laid back, friendly and concerned for our neighbors, we look out for each other and when a new face enters the neighborhood we want to befriend them. What we see as befriending, others see as being noisy or ignorance. When the chips are down or something happens in your family or neighborhood, you would rather have a simple minded Delta neighbor in your corner rather than a city slicker.
I am Delta born and bred, proud of it!!! This simple mind has a BBA and working on Master's, work 2 part time jobs while attending school and raising a family, not asking you city slicker for nothing.
