I've been looking for a job for quite awhile in clerical/administrative or receptionist fields. You wouldn't believe the number of companies who are posting jobs who aren't even hiring! They're just collecting resumes/applications for future positions. I feel this is so wrong and they should tell people on the front end what they're doing.... The last time I encountered this was for a position posted under "Available Positions" about 2 weeks ago.

Anyone else having this problem? One other thing is there aren't many large companies in my area or smaller companies who provide insurance to their employees....have to have a job with insurance unfortunately. Have been looking for jobs in Horn Lake, Southaven, Olive Branch, or Hernando. I used to work in Collierville and hated that 60 mile a day drive! Imagine a drive like that with the price of gas nowadays...scary.

Go apply at the casinos. Lots of jobs I am sure and all have full benefit packages.

I know the feeling regarding the long drive, my current commute is approximately 45 miles one way!

I haven't encountered that problem, although my current job ends April 16th, so I will keep an eye out and see if I run into it when I begin job hunting once again. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion Tim. I thought about this and then several people who already work there said they hate it because if you need to miss a day because you're sick, etc. they practically want a death certificate! I wouldn't like that, so decided against trying there.

That is completely rediculous. The time and attendance is so pathetic down there that every casino has to maintain a point system. Once you reach so many points you are fired. Believe me it is not too stringent.

I worked at one of the prpoerties down there for 7 years. We employed about 1,000 people and hired about 1,000 people every year I was there! Yes, 100% turnover. This includes table games employees where the dealers and supervisors earn anywhere from $15-$25/hr. + full corporate benefits.

I am sure the people you heard from who complain about it have poor time and attendance records.

Most casinos are owned by huge corporations and I'm sure they have a set amount of Paid Time Off....usually if you schedule a day off in advance there isn't a problem..I'm sure there isn't a problem if you are really sick...it's more then likely people who constantly call out at the last minute leaving supervisors scrambling to cover that person

Ihaven't been on here in awhile and just saw where your job ended 4-16. Have you been able to find another job? I still haven't found one. Have gone on 1 interview, but they wanted someone with sales experience that wasn't mentioned in the posting or even in the interview. The position was for an admin asst, so I don't know what sales experience has to do with that being a security company. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion Tim, but have been advised it's not a good idea to apply with them...not allowed to be off work because you're sick and the people that told me this said you practically have to have a death certificate. Don't think I would enjoy working for someone like that.

What is this...Groundhog Day?

It may not be advised if you are the type of person that has very weak time and attandence. However, if you go to work everyday on time you won't have any issues what so ever. Death certificate....please. Of coarse you are allowed off work if you are sick.

Someone told me the sky was falling too
