Is it possible to get an entire thread moved? Because I would like to continue this conversation for sure.

I'd say to the op, if you're not a political type person, it shouldn't be problem no matter where you live. Most everybody is liberal on some issues and conservative on other issues. And people of all persuasions tend to change their opinions as their circumstances in life changes and they see life from a different point of view. There's more to most people than their politics. I don't judge people by their politics and I don't develop friendships based on politics.

But somebody who is all about their politics to the point that's all they want to talk about, they are the same ones who will shove their politics down other people's throats. They are no different than people who shove their religion down other people's throats. They feel it is their personal responsibility to convert people over to their way of thinking. What ends up happening, is most people will tend to avoid them like the plague when they see them coming.

This is where it should be moved as it's starting to not be about MS anymore (although last post trying to bring it back on topic): P&C forum.

As for "the right and left thing has to stop"... I dunno. Would that be part of a perfect world? Maybe. I do truly believe that we all want the same basic things in life, we all want to be happy, healthy, and secure. We just have radically different notions of how to go about acheiving those things. The left tends to believe that we acheive that by making sure it happens for ALL of us and they believe that is possible whereas the right I think does not believe it's possible for everyone to be happy, healthy, and secure so they prioritize those things for themselves, even when it means throwing others under the bus. I think it's the difference between being yolked with perpetual scarcity mentality, pessimism about the innate nature of man, and general fear vs. having hope (perhaps naively) and seeing possibility of plenty and pursuing that relentlessly even in cases where it has not succeeded in the past.
I think we already have this. The poorest people in America are rich compared to many countries around the world. We tax people to build infrastructure that benefits everyone. There are unemployment benefits to help just about anyone who is down on their luck. Literally ANYONE can get a some type of job to at least get some money coming in. And outside of the government, there are charities galore.

So what is the problem? Jealousy/envy of course. People see what others have (earned or not) and they want it too.

I have often said that many problems in this country could be subverted if the richest of the rich didn't flaunt their huge wealth so often. I can dream I guess.

Why?

I've got to tell you... I am not so friendly with Californians who move to my state and then want to vote to turn it into what they left. Are you willing to not vote to try to turn MS into CA, NY, NY, IL, etc?

If you identify as a liberal, why not move to a liberal state? Honest question. And when you start with "But the cost of living... the crime rate... the taxes... the laws..." you really ought to start re-evaluating your beliefs, and not decide that "It'll work better this time!"

Have you heard of the concept of 'democracy'?

Have you heard of the concept of actually reading what someone wrote and responding directly to it, rather than asking meaningless questions in an attempt to duck the question at hand?

Arizona has only been a state since 1912. I would venture to guess that the majority - not all, mind you, but most - of the people have Arizona roots no deeper than 1950, meaning most of the people living there came from someplace else or their parents or grandparents did. If you don't like it because people from other states with different political persuasions than yours move there, then you're the one with the problem, not the newbies. Arizona is not a state that is strictly for conservatives and anybody else is not welcome.

Indeed, a large percentage of Arizonans were born elsewhere.
