Likes:
- Great food
- A slower pace of life (less technology is sometimes a good thing)
- Rich history, heritage, and legacies
- That rebellious American spirit still exists down south
- A strong sense of community, likely due to most Mississippians living in smaller towns and communities instead of relocating to the larger cities

Dislikes:
- bugs (mosquitos, fleas, ticks, and a variety of ants) that seem to live year-round
- poor public education system (ranked 50th in the nation for many years)
- Bible-belt (Southern Baptists basically run the show)
- impoverished in some rural areas, particularly the Delta Plains
- Having to listen to people from other regions criticize the south, stereotyping all southerners as rednecks and ignorant, without ever having lived there

Likes
-Winters (mildly chilly, but not cold)
-Musical and literary heritage
-Rolling pine forests
-Easy access to night skies without "light pollution" (even a short drive from Jackson and the Coast)
-Historic buildings
-Fondren, Belhaven, Bay St. Louis, Biloxi

Dislikes
-Too firm a faith in convention and tradition / very slow to open to new or alternative ideas (barring the places listed in my last point in the "Dislikes" list); the core "con" of other cons too numerous to mention in this list
-Job Climate is not so great
-Summer Humidity (inconvenient, but not a real killjoy)
-Usually a very long drive to find cosmopolitan amenities

I just recently left MS Coast due to my dislikes, however, will always consider MS to be one of my favorite places.

Likes:

1. The weather rocks!
2. The beach, longest manmade stretch of white sand and palm trees in
the world!
3. The architecture...love the homes!
4. The topagraphy of the state...such a natural beauty. Have been to
49 states, still like MS best...even more than HI!
5. The casino resorts and golf courses...by far some of the best in the
world!
6. Uniqueness...unlike anywhere else in the world!

Dislikes:

1. Dirty...very dirty...litter everywhere. Breaks my heart.
2. Too many illiterate rednecks. 70% redneck, 30% normal/nice.
3. Lax animal laws/enforcement/animal cruelty. Loose dogs all over!
4. Lax zoning laws. Mansion next to a trailer. Gas station/Waffle House
on prime beachfront property. As a realtor...this one really erks me!
5. Southern Hospitality Myth...they can be as friendly as rattle snakes.
Hospitality is disingenious at best.
6. Cockroaches the size of small rats...YUCK!!

MS is a wonderful place to live if your wealthy, but I guess anyplace would be too! Good luck if you move there!
