What happens when the tv show goes off the air?
The OGs (Magnolia) just bought the DIY channel. Like, the whole damn channel.

I don't think this fixer-upper stuff is going anywhere anytime soon.

While I'm not a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, Discovery Inc., now Warner Bros. Discovery are the big backers and financiers of the new re-branding of DIY to the Magnolia Network.

I'm sure they (the Gaines) used some of their fortune they made over the last 10 years doing their home improvement show on HGTV, as they are part owners of the new re-branded network, but it's not like they have Oprah money ($2.6 billion) and could have fianced the whole thing themselves!

It was rather ingenious on both parties, where you have Discovery Inc. with the deep pockets and hundreds of millions to throw at something, then you have the Gaines who have the name recognition and brand they built to carry a re-branded channel, so it's a win-win all around.

Joanna's goal all along, was to be the next Martha Stewart, minus the whole prison term thing.

Getting back to Home Town, do I see Ben and Erin trying to be the next Chris and Joanna and take over the home improvement/lifestyle/cooking/gardening world with their own channel? Probably not.

Do I see them continuing their show for years to come and having more spin off shows, like Home Town: Ben's Workshop and Home Town Takeover in the future, for sure.

Laurel is a small town, with nothing to do, nowhere to go. A few stores, a few restaurants. Walmart will be your only supermarket. For signs of life you'll need to travel to hattiesburg, or even Jackson.

If your retirement consists of sitting in your house, or heading to the same restaurant or coffee shop, every day, then Laurel may fit your bill.

Good news, the Florida coast is only about 5-6 hours away.
