I went to the fair all the time as a kid and I don't remember any kkk booths, people, meetings, anything. But I was young, this was 15-20 years ago, so who knows what they really did then or what they do now.

I thought it happened last year. I read it somewere. They had a information booth.
I would imagine that the state has little control on whether or not any group pays to set up a simple information booth at a public event. That's the world we live in.
But it doesn't make it any less stupid. I'm not one for promoting hate. So I would have ignored the booth.
Not being funny, but why would they not be allowed? Wouldn't that be against freedom of speech? It's not illegal to be part of the KKK.
I guess you are right. Just ads to the reputation thats all. Not that I believe that southerners are more raciest then anybody else but I can understand if somebody get that impression.

It's not illegal, but a family oriented state fair is not an appropriate venue to host them. It is one thing to stage a ralley, or to rent a space for a closed forum. The clan are hate mongers, and should not be allowed to have a booth at the fair for the same reason they wouldn't give a gay organization, or Islam related organization booth. It is simply too devisive for a family oriented public gathering.
