So. Y'all voting for Republicans next time?
1. A viable candidate republican won't even run. Where is the Republican that lives in Jackson and is trying to get to know the citizens, and is doing hard work NOW to better the city? Where is that person? Don't just appear 6 months before the election, a complete unknown, and expect people to vote for you.

2. Republicans in Mississippi are completely vested in racial politics. Present a candidate who isn't a Trumper and isn't following the same Southern Strategy. And has a plan. You might be surprised at the number of votes they could get.

It's really fascinating how we've gone from overt racism to what we have now. Essentially, we have replaced "racism" with hate related to what you have on your Voter ID card.

So your premise is that Republicans are the cause of Jackson's problems? If so, I recommend you vote ONLY for Democrats.

Yeah. Jackson sued and got the money. $90M.
But no Republicans told them what to do with it. So the problem remained unaddressed and now the money is gone.

Too lazy to read the thread?

My comment had to do only with why Republicans don't win elections in Jackson. I made no comment about who caused Jackson's issues.

This situation needs to be investigated, because I smell some wasteful corrupt spending going on, that is decades-old.
While you are blaming Black people for what's going on in Jackson, a lot of the things that Jackson has struggled with for so many years, like infrastructure, are things that are funded and handled at the STATE and FEDERAL levels. But since Jackson is a majority Black city full of poor Black people (POOR AND BLACK are a DOUBLE WHAMMY), it's always been very easy for the state and federal governments to turn their backs on Jackson, which is basically what you see happening with the water crisis.

My, my.. Such carrying on and accusations of abandonment.
The budget of Jackson is in plain sight. Did any of the "It's the white Republican's fault!" crowd read it?.... Apparently not, because what it shows is an increase in Total Financial Budget for 2021 of 20.6% - from $351M to $423M. More than that, the $81.4M Capital Project Funds are clearly displayed on page 3.

So the "Y'all just abandoned us" argument doesn't hold water (You'll pardon my pun, please) and the racist arguments went up in smoke.
Oh, and the 2019 budget?..... $333M. So the "our tax base has been steadily eroding" argument is clearly misinformed, too. In fact, all past budgets are available on line. Some are even higher than the current $423M, but guess why......... because the government contributed extra money for the water/sewage department; in 2014 they reported enterprise funds of $150M for water/sewage.
The budget for 2010 was $313M

The problem is mismanagement. Been going on a long time.

I know. I'm just saying the state buying the airport always seemed to be the best option.

It's sort of a metaphor for the whole water crisis. Can't really blame the state government, they aren't directly responsible, but they are slightly complicit in it, for the way they approach things, like the blackmail you mention.

I think more people on the Republican side would admit this, if the Democrat leaders in Jackson would simply assume the responsibility and genuinely ask for help, rather than blaming others.

If I tried to blackmail you, would you then ask me for help?
