Google! I just had to do this myself, got it sitting in the driveway right now. Took me a few days to track down someone to deal with my quantity. How much do you need? Most places want to deliver no less than a full truckload of 12 yards or so. Here in Winona that's about 450 bucks; I managed to get half a load for 350 cash. JJ Ferguson is just about everywhere but they ain't gonna talk about less than one load. Lots of indie gravel pits though, just google for gravel in your area.

Some cities will deliver through the municipal services. Might wanna call the city supervisor office on monday and ask (if this is for a drive or parking lot inside city limits).

Where are you? I used to pass a sign for fill dirt on my way from Oxford to Tupelo.

I am in North Ms. Desoto County.

I never thought it would be this difficult putting gravel in my driveway.
Should I call Desoto county road dept and see what they can do??

btw, thanks for the responses.

yep if you are in town just call the city. If you live outside the city call the county road crew. BTW if there is any highway resurfacing going on nearby you can sometimes score a truckload of scraped asphalt. That stuff makes a great drive, we got a load a few years back for 250 bucks which is way less than a load of rock and after a year or so it's almost like a paved drive. Just stop the man in the pickup who looks like he's in charge and ask, thats all it takes.

A full size load of gravel is like 16 tons. Given most trucks have a hard time carrying more than a half ton, that's like 1/32 of a load. It's still cheaper than delivery, but that comes to like 150 bucks a load and you gotta make 30 trips and unload it yourself.

Call the city or county. My bet is you can get a driveway done cheap without havin to make a dozen trips in pickup
