We are currently in Little Rock, Arkansas and my husband got a job in Collierville TN. We are looking at real estate for sale around the Southaven, Olive Branch area...any suggestions? He would just prefer a commute time of 40 minutes or less to his job because of the sky high gas prices .

We are looking for something newer in the price range of $150,000 to $250,000 and we would prefer a acre or more.

I have seen some really nice houses in a town called Byhalia Mississippi...anyone know anything about that area??

Any suggestions or information is much appreciated!

sassynsouthern73 - Byhalia is a rural town in Marshall County. If you chose a home in the north Byhalia area (or Barton) it would be very close to Collierville. Are schools a concern? If so, you may wish to focus on Desoto County. Olive Branch is the most eastern town in Desoto County and would be the closest to Collierville. IModerator cut: edit

There are a couple of areas in eastern Desoto county that have Byhalia mailing address but are actually in Desoto county and use Desoto county schools. There is currently a 2-year old home in this area with 3 bedrooms & 2 baths on 5.29 acres. They are asking $226,000.

There are several new homes in the Quail Ridge subdivision of Marshall county which are on about 1.5 acre lots with price range around $215,000-$250,000. There are also some new homes in Moore Plantation which is a subdivision further down into Byahlia. These homes are on 1.5-2 acre lots and priced around $169,900 - $230,000.

I hope this was helpful. This is one of the areas I work in so I am very familiar with it.

Welcome to the neighborhood! My wife and I moved to Southaven from Little Rock almost 8 years ago. You will feel right at home here. Just keep your eyes open and you will see quite a few cars with Razorback license plates and stickers (ours is one!).

Then Olive Branch is the place for you. Colliersville is right across the stateline, practically next door. Olive Branch is a beautiful rural community that is growing and going in the right direction. There is a new subdivision off of Highway 302 with brand new homes by "Grant Homes". They are beautiful with a man made pond in the back. There are many other subdivisions to choose from such as Laurelbrook, Fox Creek, Alexander Homes, Johnny Coleman Homes and Margiesmithson.com. If you would like more info, I'd be more than happy to help. I love to see people making a change in the right direction. And if you are looking here, you are heading in the right direction.

Default Olive Branch!

We moved from little rock about a year ago and Olive Branch is by far the best place to be. Southaven is very congested...nice place but getting overcrowded and schools may be good but very FULL~
Olive Branch has a small town feel, traffic isnt horrible but very close to everything you would need. Also the YMCA is great! Pleasant Hill school district is wonderful. There are lots of great neighborhoods in that area. I personally love Robinson Crossing and Wedgewood Farms.
Welcome to Mississippi! Go Hogs!

Olive Branch for sure. You do not want to live in Marshall Co. County lines in a place like MS make a huge difference (even though they are invisible). Just like the stateline between Desoto Co. and Memphis...big difference on the other side.

You guys have been very helpful! My husband will be happy to know there will still be a few Hog fans around lol! We are putting our house on the market this afternoon...finally finished all the upgrades THANK GOD I will be happy to never see a paint brush again lmao! So fingers crossed we can sell quickly! Oh and yes schools are important to us...we have a soon to be 7 year old and a soon to be 16 year old. My 16 year old is stressing so im trying to reassure her everything will work out for the best! Default Home For Sale :D

Hey, I wanted to write and agree with the others about Olive Branch, MS. We love it here! Great place to raise children, and you never hear about crime. The schools in De Soto County are the best! [mod] edit ]/mod]
Good luck to you in your move. I can relate, we are actually transplants from NC (after living there all our lives). The feel of Olive Branch is really nice. We are actually going to stay in the area when we move, we like it that much.

Take Care,
Barbara
