Man, I can remember some of those things but you guys must be a little older than me. How about A&P (my first job), Baskin Robbins ice cream, Zoellies on Washington Av. and many trips from the Sonic to the Levee and back to Sonic all night long. Couldn't afford to do that with todays gas prices.

Well it's unanimous....there really are some GREAT memories of Greenville!!! I used to shop at A&P and Baskin Robbins...both are gone now! And so is the plane at Hardy Park! But, Hardy Park looks good! It didn't run down....I remember when it was called Greenway Park!! Do you remember that?

Those are nice sounding memories, but Greenville still sounds like a nightmare.

It is a memory. And we're going back today to visit family. I'll have the shock report when I come back.

Ok, since I got memory lane going here, let me add a few more.

1) I was the 3rd person served on opening day at Morrisons in the mall. I got a gold fork in my napkin, so my meal was free.

2) Remember the locomotice in the park....can't remember the park's name but was over my Soloman School.

3) Coldest chocolate milk in the world at Shipleys doughnuts

4) Best ride in the world was over the bridge to go buy fireworks

5) Can't think of the place, but had the best can of tamales I ever had.

6) Friday and Saturday night at the skating rink.....that place was packed every weekend

Oh well, good memories

When I was a kid I liked to go down the hall in Morrison's. They had mirrors on each side and your reflection in both mirrors looked like there was hundreds of you.

I think you still have to go across the bridge to get fireworks.

How about "Pretty Place" across Lake Ferguson? If you weren't lucky enough to ride a boat across you had to drive all the way around on the levee.

O.K., do you guys remember before the Greenville Mall was built? I remember it well! One of my first jobs was at that Mall...I couldn't wait to start work!! And there used to be a Piggly Wiggly in the mall?? Remember? Anyway, I remember because my grandparents home stood where the Nazarene Church is now on Mary St. at the mall! My grandfather owned all the land from there back to the ditch where Soloman Jr. Hi School is....we actually played in the dirt piles during construction of the mall! It used to be a bean crop! Then, I learned to drive on the mall parking lot once they got it paved!! Ha!!

Yeah, I'm living in Maryland now after leaving MS when I was 22. I'm so sick of this place that I can't stand it. The grass is only greener here if you constantly struggle to keep it that way. I want to go back south, maybe the northeast area of MS. I don't think I will get within, say, 50 miles or more of the Delta in general, though. I've heard most of these things already from older relatives who can't get out of there yet.
