Hattiesburg is losing Goody's, Circuit City, and now Haverty's furniture store. I am sure more will be coming. Apparently it is the only Haverty's closing.

Per restaurants--I had always been a fan of local places. I have a different take now. Recently EVERY local place with two exceptions (Crescent City and Suwanna's (Thai)) I haved dined at has increased prices, reduced portions and service, and cut corners. With the chains you know what you are getting. I find Longhorn, Outback, and Applebee's, for example, to at least offer well-seasoned, fresher food at fair prices. I think the local places will be closing one by one unless this economy turns around.
