Yes they are.. the schools here are far better than the ones in El Paso. My Daughter got to go on the Seabee base and do that StarBase Atlantis thing they do here.. schools in El Paso would of never done anything cool like that. My oldest Son (14) is starting to come around.. he has a few girls that are calling here for him, and he has this new little grin. =) So yeah they are loving it.

I am working at a Casino, as a Security Officer.. good pay, pretty easy work.. only problem is its at swings so I have not much time for anything else. The wife is working at an IHOP, but she maybe looking elsewhere, the pay really sucks, and they have not had any customers, on her shift.

I cant tell you how thankful I am to be here. And how much I love the people, and the cities here. I am so happy to be a part of this community.

I have a question for those who stay along the Eastern border of MS. What kind of attractions are available for those either living or travelling to that part of MS?

Default I am interested in this area too

I always thought the coast of Mississippi to be beautiful. I am in northern Mississippi, so it's only about 4-5 hours away. I want to move somewhere where there is a beach and thought about Florida for a while but it's too expensive. I think the gulf coast of Mississippi would be better. I have a casino background as far as work goes, so I know I can get a job. I'm wondering if the pay is the same down there as it is in Tunica.

Default Eastern border of MS?

Yes, I've heard by many people on this forum that the Gulf Coast is very nice, but I was wondering about the attractions along the MS/Alabama border?

Well-if you go south to Mobile there are some things. The battleship and the exploreum and Imax--but that is really Alabama, right? Gulf Shores has a zoo, amusement parks, water slides and the beach-outlet shopping and water activities.

She left IHOP, she enjoyed the people there, but the pay and some of the BS she had to deal with was a bit over the top. She has applied at a few other places, Like the Waffle House, and a few Casinos. I will let her know about the Apple Bees on Lake Cedar. Thank You.

Now onto..

GODSTONE, that depends on what you need to keep yourself entertained. I find sitting on the beach, soaking up the rays, and people watching to be quite fun, but there are jetski rentals, and paddle boat rentals now near the Edgewater mall. There is the Mall its-self, there are Casinos, we do have some nice places to dine still, with more coming. Night life is a tad scarce now, but the Casinos agian fit that role.We have a couple really nice movie theaters here. Over in Mobile, there is the Battleship, and I think there is still a small amusement park there on your way to the beaches. Back in Mississippi, you have a great shopping enviroment in Ocean Springs. I am learning to Fish, never had the chance before, a friend I made at work has taken me out fishing, that is quite fun to be honest. The Colisium has a bunch of concerts, the crawdad festival, UCF fights and other events to help Entertain. I see a lot of people coming down and snapping pictures of the damage still left, so I guess in a way thats an attraction. Ship Island with its Old Spanish Fort is a nice attraction to go see. So there is plenty to see and do down here still.. just have to come down and explore it. We welcome you anytime.

Im not sure, but I think you can visit the Seabee base.. I have to check up on that.. And I hear an Air Show is coming here soon.. that will be fun. Also check out the Stenis Space Center.. its near here.

Yeah I was wondering what the closest Zoo was to Gulfport..

One of the great things about living here, is your so connected to your neighbors.. you can head down to Florida, or back into Lousiana, or even up into the Northern parts of Mississippi.. there isso much to see and explore, you cant do it all in one vaction. But your welcome to try. =)

Thanks well said. It's good to know that you can travel to that area and have something exciting to do. I still haven't been to Gulf Shores yet---I know that's sad since I have been in AL all my life---but I have been to Mrytle Beach in SC.

As far as I know, there aren't any zoos on the MS Gulf Coast. The closest are in Mobile or New Orleans.
