Hello all. My finance just got a job offer to work in hattiesburg. I just wanted to know if somebody could recommend some nice apartments to stay or areas of town. I would perfer a townhome or something with not so many USM students if possible. Also, how is the housing market there? Any good parks, gyms to work out, etc? Any general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Soulcontroller Search the forum. There are threads on H'burg. Lots of gyms and tons of apartments to choose from. The apartments around campus are as expected full of students, but as you go furthur out that dissipates.

Dont know much about the city its self, Im on the coast, but I returned my UHAUL there and it looked like a very nice city, with a huge hospital, shopping areas, and nice homes. USM looks like a real nice school too. I think you will enjoy your stay in Hattiesburg. You may look into Petal, or one of the near by smaller towns if your wanting to be further away from the college students.

Hey, Hattiesburg is a great place to live. I don't live there yet, but I plan on it in the near future. The Oak Grove area and Purvis area are great smaller communities outside Hattiesburg that are not to far to live. But you will not get bored, great resturants, nice mall, 40 minutes from the coast, alot to see and do around Hattiesburg. And the people there have a great personality, Walmart, McDonalds, employee's even say THANK YOU & HAVE A NICE DAY. I'll be glad when I'm there. Have a great day.
