I was born in Rockport, Texas, and transplanted by my parents to Gautier, Mississippi in 1945. I have now lived here over 60 years. There is not much that I don't know about Gautier. I went to school here - they have great schools from K to 12. I have seen our schools go from a four room school to 4 large grammer schools, a great high school, and the addition of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC).

I worked at the shipyard in Pascagoula, Ms., which is only 3 miles from Gautier, Ms. I worked at the shipyard under three different owners (Ingalls Shipbilding, Litton Shipbuilding, and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding). I retired in 2005. The shipyard has changed owners again, and is now Huntington/Ingalls Shipbuilding. I found it a great place to work. I worked as a designer in the machinery department. They had great work conditions, great insurance, great benefits, great education benefits (they sponsor apprentice and vocational courses at the local college). The also have a great retirement benefits. I wish I could still be working. I retired at age 72. I am now 80 years old. (Oh, I almost forgot the main thing....the have great pay).

I’m inquiring about the Point Clear subdivision in Gautier.
I haven’t been there yet but am looking at a home I. That subdivision; Dolphin Dr. to be e act.
Safe, clean, well maintained?

I love to walk/bike. Is the area conducive to those activities? How far away is access to a beach?

Is good medical care available without having to drive to New Orleans?

I’ll appreciate any input/information.

Thanks so much.

I don't know that subdivision in Gautier but wanted to give you the info I do know, jsm67. Some friends of mine moved their family there a couple of years ago and love it. They are able to walk/bike in the area. I don't know about access to a public beach there--I know they prefer to go to Ocean Springs to visit the beach, which is a short drive away. I know they have doctors in the area--not sure if they go to Pascagoula or Biloxi, but I know they don't drive to New Orleans.
