Need info about Corinth, Tunica county or Robinsonville, also any organic grocery stores, or Kohl stores, what can we expect when we move this year (November). Will be renting at Cypress Lakes any comments good or bad any information would be greatly appreciated! Or should we rent an apartment somewhere else? My hubby wants to be close to the casinos. Thanks

If you want to live literally right by the casinos, then Robinsonville is an option. There's not much there other than the casinos. If you want something more quaint and community oriented, the town square in Hernando is just about 20 minutes away. There is a Kohl's on Goodman Rd in Southaven. Corinth is about 90 miles east, is very historic and beautiful, and convenient to the huge Pickwick Lake.

One of the best Organic/Natural foods co-ops in the nation is in Jackson (Rainbow Whole Foods). Plenty of people from neighboring states go in once a month to stock up. All the things you'd expect, including triple-purified water (bring your own containers), and bulk spices (extremely fresh and cheap: all the elite local chefs pop in to shop the spices section). You can buy bulk Olive Oil (award-winning), and an excellent selection of whole grains and grain flakes (like Rolled Oats, but also Rye Flakes, Barley Flakes, etc.). And the people in the supplements section are fantastically knowledgeable and helpful.

All the produce is organic, and several local growers sell their stuff through Rainbow.

The attached cafe (weekdays/lunch only) regularly wins "Best of Jackson" type awards.

Frankly, it's worth the membership fee for discounts on Rainbow's excellent baked goods, but there's so much more....

Thanks for the info, I have heard that Oxford folks are not as friendly as the other towns that we have been too. We live in Ohio, and their are many cordial people, then again there are many who prefer to ignore you. Personally, I would rather move to Mesquite, Nevada but had to settle for Mississippi, closer for family to visit. We will take a look at Hernando and Robinsonville on our next trip in May.

I think Oxford is very friendly! I didn't like Lafayette County much...too rednecky for me. But we loved the City of Oxford!

It's more expensive than other areas of Mississippi, but totally worth it!

You might be referring to Oxford being a bit upscale and snobbish. That may not may not be true depending on a person's viewpoint. Regardless, DeSoto County definitely does not fit that description. Hernando is charming with older homes but now has nice new subdivisions popping up also, especially east of the interstate. It's perfect for someone looking for soccer, baseball, schools, shopping, etc. There is nothing in Robinsonville except for the casinos and perhaps a couple of apartment complexes.
