I see it occasionally, but most of the trees around here are pines and magnolias, which generally don't have spanish moss.

Yes. Wherever you find Live Oaks, you will find Spanish Moss hanging from it! The more humid the area, the more Spanish Moss you will find draped from the Live Oaks! I love it, but watch out for the little critters that live in it...ouch!

I live thousands and thousands of miles away from anywhere it grows naturally but it is actually available at our local gardening store. So, if you can't find it growing in your area, it might be worth having a browse in your garden center.
We've tried to cultivate some that we sneaked..snuck??... out of LA (ssshhh!) but it didn't take well in northern NSW. Hopefully you'll have better luck. I love the stuff, it looks incredible.

Spanish moss is interesting stuff.

At least with film photography, the moss always seems to develop silvery looking on the print, and that's not using a flash. With flash, it really blows out an otherwise decent shot. I think I only have a handful of photos where it appears looking close to what it appears to the naked eye.
