Here's another difference: in OR, when you approach the trail, you'll first go through a forest of signs telling you what you can and can't do ! In MT, well, it's different!

OK, that's perhaps a slight exaggeration, but every time we've been in OR we've been amazed at all the regulations--at border crossings, on the beaches, in the parks, even at gas stations where you're not allowed to pump your own gas...the scenery is amazing and the people are friendly, but it feels like Big Brother is Watching...way more that overregulated CA. In MT (although it has also changed) I still get the feeling that I'm supposed to use my own head and take responsibility for my dumba** decisions...
