I am moving to the Missoula area in the latter part of March. My family will be coming
approximately two months later assuming we can find and purchase a house fairly quickly.

At the beginning of another job I did a room lease and it didn't turn out well at all. I am a 48 year
old professional male and may have to work some from home at first. Given I am not
interested in living with a college age person, I have considered the Extended Stay Hotel Option.
I've also seen a few rentals south of Lolo, but worry the 40-mile listed distance would be formidable
if the weather were bad.

Through internet searching I have seen a few of the options such as America's Best Value Inn, Staybridge,
Studio 6, etc. I don't have to be in downtown Missoula, just in the area. Next week we are closing on our house, regrettably selling at a little bit of a loss.

I will be also doing a rental for my family while temporarily living away from them. Given I will be supporting two households I am trying to keep my expenses reasonable.

I have read many of the Net reviews which vary greatly. I don't need anything fancy, just clean and safe.

Any opinions from experience?

I find it better to lock in a special room rate at nicer hotels than staying at extended stay places.
That said, close to any major hospital there will be furnished short term rentals that traveling medical professionals use.

Thanks for your help. Luckily I'll have a week there to look into some intermediate term options.

I've traveled the country and Missoula is one of my favorite Motel 6's (3035 Expo Parkway):

1. Safe and out of the riffraff traffic
2. Walking distance to Cracker Barrel, Mackenzie River Pizza & Starbucks, convenience store - the whole world of restaurants and stores just past underpass
3.Easy to access from Interstate
4.Lots of room for parking towed vehicles and I've always been able to get room facing parking so I can check on it thru the night
5. Dog-friendly and no charge for dogs
6. Cheep! They may have weekly rates

You could try the Sublets/temporary section of craigslist missoula sublets & temporary classifieds " " - craigslist but for least hassle I sure prefer a motel.

I've done the shared house thing numerous times and, yes, it usually sux.

Also been okay at Super 8 3901 Brooks Street.

Good luck!
