Illinois is always trying to steal our thunder.

As long as they have the Cubs and we have the Cards - they will always be jealous

Major Sports Championships by State:

Illinois - 24

World Series 5 (2 Cubs, 3 White Sox)
Super Bowl 1
NFL Championships 8
NBA Championships 6
Stanley Cups 4

Missouri - 11

World Series 11
Super Bowl 1 (NFL Championships in LA do not count)
Stanley Cups - the only team sport I care about here - zero

Pretty sure Illinois will never be jealous of Missouri.......for sports or any other aspect....only the politicans from Illinois are more corrupt than Missouri...

True, you did elect Obama before any other state made that mistake.

I was living in MO at the time of the media-rigged 2008 election/baptism of fire.

Ya mean the Coronation (complete with Greek columns) of the media's Annointed One?

As for the original topic, I guess that may bring some a bit of comfort but it was devastating regardless of which fault created it.

The part that is often not mentioned is that we don't have enough records relating to the faultlines to see how it all works. There are some broad areas of weak zones that can produce at least moderate earthquakes outside of the two mentioned faultlines, with some going up the Mississippi River to St. Louis.

A big unknown is weather or not the different fault lines interact with each other where some are more active some of the time while another takes over later on due to stress tranfers.

It also is some interesting reading on trying to explain its existance and how it has affected the geography, one part being it is likely responsible or tied into why the coastal plain goes so far inland as well as the course of various rivers.
