They're not doing it in Marion County, and they sure dont like paying for school taxes there.
All I heard was how they paid school taxes in whatever state they came from.
Sad.

Yes, the Florida education system is a total mess. I see big problems for the state going forward with regard to increasing educational attainment levels, and attracting good paying highly skilled jobs.

^That's why every non-retiree I've ever known who moved to Florida has spent years trying to get back. They're lured by the warm weather, but if you can't find decent, well paying employment, life sure isn't going to be much easier.

Right of hand I would have to say California would be the worst state to Retire In. People don't move to California people move out of California. Unless maybe they are looking for welfare or other state free bees. No wonder why California is broke.

Missouri is a beautiful state and has many things going for it as a place for retirees BUT it would be a good idea, if planning on locating in rural Missouri, to think about medical care and proximity to a hospital. I'm posting a link to a map showing hospital locations. In some areas you would need to go three counties away to get to a hospital and that is a heck of an ambulance ride.

Hospital Map-> MHANet - Locate a Hospital - Missouri Hospital Association: Health Care Advocacy & Education (http://web.mhanet.com/aspx/locate_hospital.aspx - broken link)
