Missouri follows national trend of Hispanics fueling growth (Kansas City, St. Louis: crime, neighborhood)

Following what is becoming a nationwide trend, population growth in Missouri in the past decade was fueled by a spike in the number of Hispanic residents, 2010 U.S. Census data released Thursday show.

Missouri's Hispanic population grew by 79% to 212,470, while the state's total population increased 7%.
Despite that growth, the Hispanic community makes up only 3.5% of Missouri's total population, compared with 81% for non-Hispanic whites.

Take it from one who escaped Baja Norte (California), that is NOT good news. The calls for "diversity" have already been trumpeted in Springfield so can "For English press #1" and ESL classes in increasingly overcrowded, under-performing schools be far behind?

Wonder how many of those 212K are undocumented (a politically correct, wussy term for illegal trespassing law breakers).

I consider it great news. I have already seen the positive impact in the Benton Park West neighborhood in St. Louis. Hispanics are opening businesses, pushing out crime and adding a sense of vibrancy to a beautiful old city neighborhood.

Not unexpected along the major interstates.

I-29 and I-35 on the East side of the state are huge alleys through which illegals, be they hispanic or of other national origins, funnel up from the Southern US border. The break-off to go East is I-70. It is not unusual at all to see white windowless vans in the late night hours at truck stops unloading for a break with more than a dozen people at a time and only the driver will be able to speak English.

I cannot speak to whether others have had similar observations and experiences along I-44 and I-55.

Curmudgeon is 100% correct. I lived in Los Angeles, CA and San Diego, CA. There is nothing good what so ever about this so called diversity. Learn from others (California's) mistakes (illegal alien sanctuary). There's a reason why it's the worst state in America. Los Angeles is the second largest Spanish speaking city in the world following Mexico City I believe. Yes, the second largest city in America is on par with Mexico. I hope you enjoy being a minority as an English speaker and be sure to embrace that good ole third world country vibe.

I would expect Kansas City and St. Louis to embrace them and maybe even try to become sanctuary cities. Just, please, keep them out of the Ozarks. I'm not fond of Nortenos, Surenos, the EME or the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13).

Immigrants go where there are jobs. As there are no jobs in the Ozarks I'd say you are "safe."
