Interesting point that I am learning here. It's not just Branson.
They hide bad local news as much as possible to prevent
a negative image I guess. Case in point - a major business
here has announced they are closing, just like that. A huge
economic blow for our area. Newspapers, radio, and television
aren't interested in the story. Blows my mind but what do I know.
Makes you think about what else they aren't telling you!!

I can save you the drive to any Casino. Just mail me a check for the amount you think you will lose! Stay home drink a beer! I will refund you the price of the stamp. lol

PS: A buddy of mine used to own two houses, 5 Harley's a 1974 Ford 1/2 custom show truck etc. He won quite a lot or so he thought! He had all those big check pictures etc. The IRS is looking for him for 40k in back taxes and he has lost everything. He sleeps in his car and practices with a video poker device before he goes to the boat's.

Downstream is located on the Oklahoma, Missouri border near Joplin. It is the closest thing to a Vegas style casino around. They have top name entertainment and great food, from what I hear.

As for Branson. Yes, they need gambling. And when the economy gets bad enough they will pass it, I'm sure. I am not saying *which one*, but I can tell you right here, right now that I have SEEN blueprints (with my own eyes), of a church (formerly a music show), that is wired for slot machines. LOL

Having a casino in Branson is the best thing that they could do for the economy here.

Yep we've even and a murder or two (or three). But it's a long, long way from Detroit crime-wise.

Default Casino's

The closest seems to be Downstream Casino which is about 80 miles west of Springfield. It's right off exit 1 on the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma border.
Very nice place which includes a hotel, golf course, and other ammenties you would expect with a nice resort property. The machines however are tight...I'm from Las Vegas and the slots at least kept you busy on a $20 bill for a several minutes. Payback at Downstream is seldom.

As far a Brason needing a casino? Why? It's a music and entertainment city not a gaming city...I'm not against it, but the folks who live here (less than 10,000 people) would never pass it...they have enough panic about how alcohol is served...they'll never agree on gaming.

Downstream just west of Joplin, MO is just one of many casinos in extreme Southwest MO and northeast OK.

Bordertown Casino (Seneca MO)
Bordertown Outpost (north of Seneca)
Wyandotte Casino (at Wyandotte)
The Stables
Cherokee....

Heck I can't even remember all of them.
