Boonville itself is fairly small, but there would be plenty of employment and recreational activities in nearby Columbia.

Boonville actually has job openings here in town - both industrial and service jobs. We are a warm, active historic city with a wonderful range of family opportunities.
This weekend, hundreds of people from around the country will come to Boonville for the 20th Annual "Big Muddy Folk Festival."
On June 17th, we will host a re-enactment of the first major Civil War battle west of the Missippi - the Battle of Boonville. Many hundreds of re-enactors will be in town for this mega-event.
In Boonville you will always find fun, adventure, culture and history all in one city.
Welcome to Boonville!

I retired from the Bakery in Boonville and at one time over half the town was kin.

I'm not sure as far as Jobs at this time know of several working at the Riverboat Casino.Use to be fairly easy to find work in the area.

From my years of experience on this forum anyone who identifies themselves as an "eastcoastyankee" is far more likely to be sitting in his mom's basement right now than anywhere on the eastern seaboard.

edited to add: I just looked up this guys' other postings and ... ew. He'll be banned very soon.

Boonville seems to be enjoying an upswing given the popularity and tremendous growth of Columbia.

City of Boonville, Mo

If you don't mind me asking, if you are not familiar with the jobs available, what made you decide on a move to Boonville all the way from MT? Just curious.

Plenty to do and see, a good location along I-70 if you want to run to KC, Columbia, St. Louis, or Lake of the Ozarks for a day trip. Still "small town" USA without being too small to offer services and opportunity. I hope you enjoy it.

Missouri Life magazine is good for getting a feel for the goings on about the state:
Missouri Life - Travel, Events, Careers, Dining, Marketplace, Guides, Communities

And of course, the Boonville newspaper should help you familiarize yourself with the area too:

Welcome!
