Hope everyone will be safe if the weather gets rough. The report doesn't sound so good for tonight or tomorrow for us up north. Tornado threat scares me pretty bad.

Bad to say but my weather alarm has gone off so many times the past 3-4 days that I have begun ignoring it. I'll pull up the weather radar on the computer to see if it really appears to warrant concern. The nightly severe thunderstorms seem a bit late in the season this year.

How is the river doing up your way misplaced1? Any flooding beyond minor yet yet?

We're more into nw/nc Missouri so no threats of flooding here thankfully. I feel for those who are dealing with it and worrying about the threat.

Nature is sure having her way with parts of the country right now.

Looks like another night of storm threat. Hope you get a quiet night!

The Missouri River flooding is not a problem here yet. However, if these nightly thunderstorms don't ease up it won't take long. The Missouri is breaching levees in Nebraska and upstream they are increasing the release rates from the reservoirs in the Dakotas again in anticipation of needing the storage for storm runoff and the snowmelt yet to come.

At Oahe Dam the previously predicted high release was only supposed to be 150,000cfs but this morning they opened the stilling basin and power plant gates to 160,000cfs and may go as high as 165,000cfs before the week is out. That is near maximum release and well beyond the volumes ever tested since the hydoelectric dams went up more than 40 years ago.
