No, do that is rush hour and is even worse. She'll be in stand-still traffic on I-291 South getting to I-470. Best just to stay on I-70, IMO.

Not sure if the OP still needs this info, but here is my advice.

First off, DO NOT take 470/435 around KC. As lifelong MOgalstated, you are far more likely to run into traffic. Those are very busy suburban beltways and rush hour on those is worse than I-70, plus it would be at least 15-20 miles out of your way and you would have to change freeways several times.

Take 70 through KC and when you get downtown going eastbound, TAKE 670 (it wil be marked 70 ALT). That will be a straight shot right through downtown KCMO and you will avoid several very tight turns and many lane changes. When coming back from Kansas, you must remember to take 670 because they don't even mark it as 70 ALT, but so much nicer than taking 70 with goes all over the place when you are just trying to get through the city.

I would agree with others that say to stay on 64/40 through StLouis and West County. It's much nicer and less congested than taking 70 through.
