Platte County sighting confirmed to be a mountain lion | MDC

“The photo is clearly of a mountain lion,” said Jeff Beringer, resource scientist with the MDC’s Mountain Lion Response Team. “We visited with the landowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, to confirm the location and to gather additional information.”

Found this part amusing as N. Missouri farmers can tell you otherwise:

Beringer said that there have been no documented cases in Missouri of attacks on livestock, people or pets by mountain lions.

That would be only because the MDC has historically refused to document such cases, in part of their ongoing early denial of the existence of mountain lions in Missouri (and possible re-stocking programs), and farmers have been left to quietly deal with problem cats on their own after being rebuked by the MDC.

I don't know why there wouldn't be cats around here, considering how plentiful deer are.

To hopefully get Game Camera photos. Use Calvin Klien Obsession for men as a scent. Researchers of Jaguars in Guatemala recommend it. Show us your photos please.

Were you drunk when you typed this post or just being the North end of a Southbound mule?

I believe that hell has just frozen over.

The gub'mint confirming what farmers and ranchers in the area have known for the past 20 years. Amazing.

How long before they acknowledge the black panthers? I wonder.....

Jaguars obsessed with Calvin Klein scent | Environment | The Guardian

I don't believe he was drinking lifelong.

Maybe this one is better Wildlife Conservation Society

Well, providing a link certainly would have clarifed his posting.

Thanks Dave.

Not really news in my opinion. Not the first time their presence here has been verified. It's only been a couple years ago that one was killed (ran over by a car if I remember correctly) in the KC metro area.

That would be correct, however, the MDC has been reluctant to confirm "live" sightings until quite recently.
