lightening bugs
fairys
glow bugs
fireflies


according to one of my daycare boys he thinks if u eat them u will blink and glow like him......... I really think this child is a hippie want to be !!!

I grew up in Illinois .. near St. Louis and we called them Lightening bugs

Most of the time lightening bugs. sometimes we say fireflys

Bur usually it's 'lightning' no 'e' in there

I believe that 2be would have to ask a mod to create the poll, since the thread is done started.
Otherwise, upon starting a thread, the option exists then to do such...

I hear that if you catch on of them Fireflys and rub it on your arm it will glow for the night. Never done it... I would love to catch one and put it in a jar to check it up close.

oh kareybear .......... I was a kid who loved them lights .. I would catch them pull the lights off and make rings ,earrings, necklaces, glow face etc...

camping we didn't need flashlights we would catch a mason jar full and it was the kewlest thing ever

yep they would last for some time .. I don't know about all night... I do know till about 10 pm when my Grannie would be given me my flea dippen of the day!

Did ya ever take dandilions and rub on the skin ..they turn ya yellow ...... yea I use to use them as make up .......

I tried those berries once in the woods--turned myself purple .. .... I think sew mack grows there ....... yea I spent that summer in bed wrapped and seepen ..was the grosses messiest worse summer of my life! I not only turned myself purple but I gave myself poison sew mack for a whole summer ..

Stuff I hated the most that lined the "crick" sides was the stinging nettles! I would have these horrible, raised welts all over my legs and arms from them.....wow, nice trip down memory lane folks!
