The Missouri State Highway Patrol is Hiring New Troopers! The Patrol is conducting an additional selection process for new troopers in 2008. 35K per year to put your life on the line...those guys are way underpaid!

I also have always thought that starting pay for teachers should be 50K.

Teachers salaries have always amazed me, They are doing the most important job that there is.......and today's kids, wow at least out here. talk about having no respect....

I always wanted to be a daycare preschool teacher but my husband you won't get paid crap so I going to go for my nursing school when I am done with my kids. LOL LOL

I have a good friend that is a trooper. He has been with the patrol for over 10 years. Last I knew, he made around 60k per year. That is a really good salary for here in the midwest. Besides the good retirement, they (I think all cops around here) get their own car to take home. If you think about the amound of money in gas, oil changes, tires and other costs that you and I pay just driving to and from work, that is a big savings. I do agree that they are far under paid. I heard once that Missouri has the #2 rated highway patrol in the country. My buddy also told me that their academy was worse than marine corps boot camp and that their graduate rate is less than 50%. If if paid more, sounds like a fun job

You should fear if there is lack of medical profession. There is a huge lack of nurses right now. That is what I am gonna be when I grow up.
