Perhaps my post is being taken the wrong way. I thought it was funny in an unintended way that a post putting down rural Missourians and rural people everywhere was so poorly written. That was the point I was trying to make.

I think the Missouri Republican leadership should start a write-in campaign for Sarah Steelman, former 16th District state senator and former state treasurer. Brilliant woman. And that's who we need to go against McCaskill. A woman.

It doesn't look like this is going to happen. We have to choose between a native Ozarker, McCaskill, who has forgotten her raisin' in this most conservative, ethical and frugal area, or a transplant from New York, Akin, who has become a parody of conservatism. A vote for a third-party or no vote at all will be a vote for the incumbent.

In other words, your choice is between an Obama supporter who has questionable ethics and a New York transplant who thinks he's been anointed by God for the job.

If everyone had listened to me and voted for Sarah Steelman in the primary, we wouldn't have this problem.

lol well remind us of this in 4 years please. Too late now.

DH feels that a vote for McCaskill is a vote for Obama, so he will be voting for Akin I guess. But I'd rather the country go broke and we get absorbed into China, before I'll vote for someone who A. doesn't understand that all rape is forcible rape, and B. does not understand basic human biology.

I'm no great fan of the culture wars, but I'm not going to pretend they don't exist.
This poll shows Obama with a significant gender gap to Romney among married women:

Hey xenokc, should me and my people in the lower 1/3rd of Missouri still go back to Arkansas?

seMissourian.com: Local News: Man who interviewed Todd Akin from Poplar Bluff (08/28/12)

Seems that us folks from Southern Missouri have done more than anyone to expose Todd Akin.

I really wish that we could have some true fiscal conservatism without any of this ridiculous stuff.

I get it. I had no idea about these prior transgressions, and your point about Claire McCaskill giving off the appearance of impropriety is duly noted. How do you give someone even the extreme benefit of the doubt after reading this?

So, as a new Missouri resident, voting in his first senatorial election, who do I vote for now?

What matters the most when it comes to these elections: the office seekers views and ideas, or his or her actions? McCaskill shows in these cases by her actions to be less than honorable, but Akin comes across as completely deranged.
Eggs-zackley. How did either of these people wind up as candidates? I would say that it is because voters really don't pay enough attention when it comes to elections. Not to change the subject, but Romney and Obama both lie about each other and there is very little outrage when the lies are exposed. We have only ourselves to blame for having a paucity of good candidates who deserve our respect. They lie and cheat because, well, they can.

Yes we do and yes they do because we allow it. Besides, they are politicians, after all. Just follow the money!
