The've been changing a lot of rules on the fly... voter ID laws are just one example.

Yes, they did. They were afraid he would offend mainstream Republicans if he had spoken at the convention. I don't agree with RP on everything, I'm far from a libertarian, but the rule change was deliberately done to blockade his delegates, pretty disgusting. I just can't stay inside the tent of a party that does stuff like this. I mean, this is border-line NSDAP (Nazi) Party tactics.

I don't care what side of the aisle you find yourself on. Voter ID laws pushed through for the sole purpose of keeping those you disagree with from voting (and with very very very little evidence of voter fraud: Voter Fraud: It's Real, But Rare - ABC News) is unAmerican and appalling.

Out of the 197 million votes cast for federal candidates between 2002 and 2005, only 40 voters were indicted for voter fraud, according to a Department of Justice study outlined during a 2006 Congressional hearing. Only 26 of those cases, or about .00000013 percent of the votes cast, resulted in convictions or guilty pleas.

In Missouri you can vote without an ID if both election officials (one a dem and one a repub) certify that they know you. How can any ID the government gives you be better at determining who you are than that?

I moved to missouri in December and voted in the primary. not one person asked for my ID and
none of them knew me. how did they know I was who I said I was

Just to be clear, I was addressing how GOP leader in certain states (not Missouri) have gained the power to enact legislation to make voting by certain blocks of voters inconvenient, difficult, if not impossible.

The interest in voter ID laws worries me. I work at a nursing home, and several of our residents vote. But their photo IDs are long expired, and there is no simple or easy way to help them get new ones. I worry that if photo IDs were required, we would be unfairly excluding these seniors from voting, which is obviously unfair.

The question is, are they capable of thought? Incidents of true voter fraud are miniscule. Nothin' speaks of desperation louder than a law about nothin'.
