My family and I are currently planning on relocating to Missouri. We're looking at two towns right now and could use some honest advice on good and bad things about the towns. Looking at Warsaw and Mountain View. How are the school system, entertainment, people etc. Any help will be appreciated!

I don't think either town has a mall or a Starbucks. Is that good for you or bad for you?

I'm not familiar with Mountain View, but I am somewhat with Warsaw. I like Warsaw a lot. It's very pretty, very clean. We often go there for fourth of July fireworks - the show is outstanding there. Benton House has outstanding prime rib. I haven't been to Jester's in a while (which is technically in the next town I think) but you can bowl there, play games; good fun. I can't think of anything negative to say about Warsaw. It's definitely a town I would not mind living in.

Nothing really "bad" about those towns, but they tend to be mostly retirees with few jobs.

I stop in Warsaw all the time, it's a nice town, little to large to be considered rural, to small to have anything significant. It sits right in between Truman lake and Lake of the Ozarks (Truman dam, which dumps into Lake of the Ozarks, is there)... Good place to be if you're into water sports, fishing, boating, or the outdoors in general. In the summer it's inundated with fishermen, campers, weekend lake people (me) etc. staying in the area or traveling through.

It's maybe an hour south of Sedalia, an hour north of Springfield, and an hour and a half from Kansas City and Columbia which is where you'd find major shopping and entertainment. Not much else in between.

It is 90 minutes from Warsaw to Springfield.

Mountain View, although a bit larger at 2,800 people, is a more rural, agricultural based town. Warsaw has some tourist related businesses and the dam which gives it more economic diversity. Speaking of diversity, both are 96+% white by census data.

Mountain View is not really near anything at all. I suppose Springfield is the easiest to get to for major medical or shopping. Poplar Bluff is a little closer but a lot smaller than Springfield. West Plains is only 30 to 40 minutes and has more facilities than one might suspect.

Lots of outdoor activities at hand either place - hunting, fishing, hiking, and plenty of boating at Warsaw. However, you will never have to make an agonizing decision as to whether to attend the concert or the theater.
