Originally, I'm from Seattle. There, there's a huge Samoan population. I now live in Chicago; where the Samoan population is virtually non existent. About 900 Samoans live in the Independence area. I just want to know why they went there instead of staying out on the West Coast

There's quite a lot of Filipinos here in the KC metro as well, but I have no idea why they all congregated here.

After I did a search, I found some info on an LDS website (Independence has a Mormon heritage) where some families from Samoa relocated there due to that religion years ago.

That's not that surprising, considering there are 3 million Filipinos in the US, or 1% of the population. Samoan-Americans are less than 200,000

Yes, but from my experience in the Midwest there are a lot more Filipinos here per capita than there are in St. Louis or even Chicago, though Chicago did have a really solid Filipino restaurant in Lincoln Square.

most likely. Around here it's mostly Indians and Chinese, and the occasional Korean. I don't see that many filipinos around
