Hi, all. I'll be spending 2 or 3 weeks in MO on my way west and I see your state has reciprocity with mine for concealed carry permits. Since I have to stop in NY and WI before I get there, I can't bring the guns with me and will need to ship them after I arrive. I figure to have an FFL dealer here hold them for a week or so and then ship them to an FFL in MO where I can pick them up. Is this how it's usually done or is there some different requirements in MO that I haven't found online?

If you are staying with a family member in Missouri, you may ship them to yourself, in care of your family member. This will save you the hassle of doing an FFL transfer.

I'm not quite sure about NY gun laws, but as long as they are locked in your trunk and out of sight, you should be okay.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to use the FFL because we don't know anyone in MO. Yet.

attrapereves - you can get 7 years in prison and a $10k fine if you get caught stopping in NY with hand guns in your possession (I'll have to spend a couple of days there). They've arrested people traveling through with hand guns who were in full compliance with Federal transport laws. Some were just passing through JFK, if you can believe that. The state of NY is breaking the law by doing it, and a few who fought them actually won, but they still do it. Just one of many reasons I moved out of that socialist hole.

I'll check with your state police and an FFL tomorrow to be sure there isn't some obscure rule I missed or something. I get real nervous about unknowingly violating gun laws.

Alternatively, you can ship them to a UPS hub and they will hold the package for you until you come to pick it up. I used to do this with packages at my old apartment complex since my neighbors couldn't be trusted.

Another problem you might run across by shipping them to an FFL in another state is residency requirements. I believe this technically might be considered a "transfer," so you might be required to be a resident of Missouri in order to receive firearms. Just something to look into...

I'll do that, thank you. We actually just had a change of plans and will be going to CO first, but we'll be in MO eventually. Hope to see some elk.
