I agree. For those who are bored, here is a site that shows the temp for a particular Missouri town for any day of since the 1940's. I have the page on 1960 for Springfield, MO, but it can be changed.

Historical Weather For 1960 in Springfield, Missouri, USA - WeatherSpark

This does not list snowfall's, but the state record for snow is 24 inches in 1925 according to Market Watch (borrowed from Weather Channel).

50 States' Biggest Snow Days - weather.com

Also, remember 2011?

National Weather Service Springfield, MO - Monthly Climate Summary - February 2011 - Records

This site lists records by month - including snowfall

Springfield, MO Climate

Here is an interesting list - remember -snow on the ground is not the same as a single snowstorm

Missouri Climate Center

This site is run by University of Missouri Climate Center and is interesting. Was December colder or warmer than normal?

Missouri Climate Center

Except for the last link, the others are set up for Springfield and can be changed. I am unable to find the all time record snowfall for Springfield is someone can supply a link.

Also another odd thing, but a few days ago was the first time Lambert got below zero since 1999!However many places in the Arkansas Ozarks and Southern MO have gotten below zero a number of times since then despite their climate overall has much warmer average temps.Surrounding areas around stl too get below zero but Lambert for some reason is always warmer.Meteologist Chris Higgins of ch2 on his forum said he thinks it's because of where Lambert is located between the MO and MS rivers it deflects the cold air as he's driven around the area taking temp readings and always notes how that area is always warmer that areas away from it.The winters of the 1970s and 1980s overall were VERY cold for much of the nation and are not the norm. This past week Lambert got down to minus 8! While Spirit of St. Louis airport got much colder than that.

It got to -3 in Branson. Just to our north in Springfield it got down to -12...now that's cold!!! They are usually colder than us since the elevation change between the two cities is pretty drastic.
