I was wondering what Sedalia, MO is like. Is it a nice place to live? Looking for a small town with a few nice restuarants and a generally rural lifestyle. Wouldn't mind being fairly close to a university. Also would like warmer winters with less snow than we get in New England. Thanks

Not seeing any responses, I'll chime in off the topic. This is in no way meant to talk you out of Sedalia - I just don't know much about the town other than it hosts the State fair every year.

I think you would like Sedalia. Used to be a place to get a Goober-burger made with peanut butter. I think they closed up. Kinda a doorway to the Ozarks. Many restaurants etc. Town is laid out very nicely for getting around. Day trips to Kansas City are common for people.

Hey Tom. Sedalia seems like a decent enough city. It contains a community college and there are two universities within 30 miles (UCM and MO Valley). Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Let us not forget it's the home of the Missouri State Fair. The winters are balmy compared to those of New England. Don't worry about the epicurean vacancy created by the departure of Goober-burger. It probably wasn't a popular attraction.

The Goober-Burger was a great attraction in Sedalia. I have seen many TV news spots on the Goober-Burger. I tried one once and although it was not my favorite burger; it did not make me feel obtuse at all. I should have ordered it with grilled onions! UMMMMM!

Yep i think you are right! The best i can recall is that it was on the wall in the men's bathroom. I think the actual saying was "A Goober-Burger a day will keep the obtuse away! Then some goober from K State put a KState bumper sticker over it and that is why they closed the place down and then tore it down. There is a huge rivalry between MU and K State. Oh the humanities of it all!

Sedalia is a nice town
I've lived here for about a year now and i like it. The place where you can get a goober burger is still open. Its called the Wheel Inn. And besides the state fair they have the ragtime festival here. There is enough stuff here where you don't have to go to the big city. State fair com. college is here. CMSU and U o M Colombia isn't far away. Nethier is Jefferson City the state capital.
