Alexandria Missouri was named after John Alexander, the proprietor of a nearby ferry.


Wentzville Missouri was named after Peter Louis Kingston Wentz III, a railroad official.


Kirkwood Missouri was named after James P Kirkwood, builder of the Pacific Railroad through that town. It was the first planned suburb located west of the Mississippi River.


The first European settler in Arnold Missouri was Jean Baptiste Gamache, who operated a ferry boat across the Meramec River.

Archie Missouri was named after Archie Talmadge, the son of a railroad official. On August 10, 1932 a meteorite fell near the town of Archie that received national attention. A fragment is on display in the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. The name of the meteorite is Archie.

The Eitzen Mansion in California,Missouri was built in 1898 by Charles A Eitzen. It has 19 rooms, 9 fireplaces, and has the original slate roof. The carriage house and stable, with a room for the coachman take up an entire city block. The home remained in the Eitzen family until 1952. Since then, it has been used as a nursing home, restaurant, and bed and breakfast. Today, the mansion is a private residence.


Calhoun Missouri was named after John C Calhoun, 7th Vice President of the United States.
