Missouri is the only state with a bicameral legislature that doesn't have a legislative check on the judiciary. That's because the responsibility to hold impeachment trials was shifted from senate to the courts in the state constitution in 1945.

So Missouri is in competition with Florida for the most opiate-addicted people? In Florida doctors have become famous for giving out opiate scripts like candy. In Missouri, since prescription drugs aren't tracked, do that equate with...out-of-control opiate scripts? Opinions? Adverse views? Your views are welcome. I'm just inquiring.

On our way to Moberly, MO, one morning, we stopped in Chillicothe, MO, to use the facilities and get a pop. Whoa! I won't mention the name of the mini-mart, but, the people working and shopping there were...umm...seriously substance-influenced. We Googled Chillicothe, MO, Meth and got our answer.

I don't know what to make of that. I come across those kind of people you're talking about every once in a while, usually asking to borrow money. They look like they're in their 50s or 60s but I think they are only in their 20s. I found that link when I was looking for Missouri pharmacy robberies because I keep seeing on the local news where someone robbed a pharmacy. I wondered where Missouri ranked for pharmacy robberies, not even in the top 20. Surprisingly, Indiana has led the nation for the last 5 years, twice as much as California.

Popular Mechanics (December 1906)

Traveling Chicken Show

The first traveling chicken show has been successfully inaugurated in Missouri, the state which leads all others in its production of poultry. The show filled two special cars and was taken to all parts of the state, where free lectures were given in connection with the display. The idea is to stimulate poultry raisers to larger and better efforts. All sorts of mechanical devices for use in the work were exhibited, the most novel being a machine for converting ordinary chicken feathers, worth only 6 or 7 cents a pound, into down for pillows which sell from 80 cents to $ 1.50 per pound. Missouri sold last year over $ 37,000,000 worth of poultry.

Popular Mechanics (October 2004)

The world's largest machine in 1904 was a star exhibit at the St. Louis World's Fair. The steam-powered 8000-hp behemoth generated enough electricity to illuminate the nearly 200,000 light bulbs that brightened the fair during the evenings. It also furnished the current for a streetcar line that ran to the fair during the afternoons. The engine ran at 75 rpm and weighed 720 tons.
