I'll only do the ones I've been to, but here goes. Most Southern to least Southern:

Sikeston (too Southern to function)
Caruthersville
Cape Girardeau/Jackson (South/Midwest hybrid)
Springfield/Branson/Joplin (ditto)
Jefferson City/Columbia
St. Louis (people make fun of me for saying "y'all")

Kansas City doesn't feel at all southern. St Joe feels even less southern. St Louis is primarily midwest, but does have a few east coast/southern elements to it. Columbia feels completely midwestern. Same with Jeff. I'm not too sure about the other cities.

C'ville
Poplar Bluff/Sikeston
West Plains
Branson
Jackson/Cape Girardeau/Springfield

Not sure about Joplin, haven't spent any time there but I've met a few people from there.

The rest of them aren't worth considering because they aren't southern at all.

Living about 23 miles south of Branson, five miles as the crow flies from the Arkansas border, this is decidedly the south. In the past I've lived in Alabama, North Carolina X2, Virginia X2, Georgia and Kentucky. I think I know the south when I see it. It's here!

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I should have put West Plains and Branson on the same level probably.

The last line of my post were the cities that have mixed traits.

St Louis does have a bit of southern feel to it, comparable to Louisville KY. Not sure if it's the people or attitude or just plain look of the city.

The climate is quite similar to Louisville and not comparable to most of the Midwest so that is a difference for sure.

I have no idea what a "southern" feeling is.

Missouri is Missouri.

I think St Louis feels most southern, Springfield feels Ozarkian, whatever that is, Kansas City feels midwestern.
